Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum…Paving the Way for Women in Aviation
In November, I visited the Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum in Atchison, Kansas. Many people know Amelia Earhart because her plane disappeared while she was trying to fly around the world. However, there is much more to Amelia Earhart than just her disappearance. Her accomplishments in aviation paved the way for women in aviation and for women in general . The museum does an excellent job of looking all aspects of her life.
When visitors enter the museum, the first thing they will see a plane like the Lockhead Electra 10-E that Earhart flew on her final flight. It is pretty impressive!
The museum has multiple exhibits following Amelia from the beginning of her life to the end of her life. In addition, there are exhibits about people that Amelia worked with during her life.
Activities
The museum has a variety of different hands on activities. One of my favorite hands on activities was in the exhibit where they took a picture of me and then made an Amelia Earhart type avatar.
