Wichita Art Museum…Viewing Art for Free…Yes Please
Wichita, Kansas
Over spring break, my mom and I went and checked out the Wichita Art Museum. One of the great things about this museum is that it is free to visit it. In a world where museums can cost $10, $20, or $30, this museum was refreshing. Some of the most stunning art work that patrons first encounter at this museum is the glass sculptures. Visitors can even walk on a glass walkway with glass art under the glass walkway.
The museum had all different types of art. I feel like the museum has art for every person’s taste. I also think it is one of those museums that you could walk through quickly and just take some time to look at certain pieces or you could take your time and spend hours in the museum looking at each peice of art for as long as you want.
Activities for Kids at the Museum
The Wichita Art Museum has a kid’s section called the living room. It has activities for kids, a scavenger hunt that students can complete as they go through the museum, and it has papers with information for parents of activities they can do to help kids better enjoy the art.

A tip from someone who has been there.
The living room section is in a basement type area of the museum. It is easy to miss if you are not looking for it. I would ask the person at the front desk to give you directions to get there. It will be worth it.
